Brian’s Story

The person behind K&CO.

Brian Kaner is known throughout the Tri-Cities as “The Spice Guy,” but to the people closest to him, he is much more than that. He is a father, a friend, a Culinary Institute of America alumnus, and a community-minded founder who built K&CO to help people enjoy healthier food without giving up bold flavor.

According to the GoFundMe organized by Christine Heslet, Brian has tested positive for MCTD and has already gone through more than 15 surgeries since he was a teenager. He is now facing more surgeries, including full shoulder replacements, while dealing with severe pain and the financial pressure that comes with medical recovery.

The fundraiser describes Brian as someone who consistently shows up for others — helping friends, supporting families, cooking for people in difficult moments, and using his business ideas to support schools, restaurants, and the local community.

Now, the goal is to show up for him.

Where support goes

Medical bills first. Business survival second.

The fundraiser states that money raised will go to medical expenses first, with any remaining funds helping Brian keep K&CO alive during recovery.

Upcoming surgeries

Support helps Brian prepare for major medical procedures and recovery time.

Lost income

His condition has affected his ability to work consistently and operate his business.

K&CO operations

If medical needs are covered, remaining funds help keep the spice business moving forward.
